RESUMEN EN INGLÉS DE LAS ISLAS CAIMÁN

Cayman Islands (in English, Cayman Islands) are an overseas British territory dependent on the United Kingdom and located to the Northwest of Jamaica, between the island of Cuba and the coast of Honduras, in the waters of the Caribbean Sea. It is one of the 16 Non-Self-Governing Territories under the supervision of the United Nations Decolonization Committee, in order to eliminate colonialism. They were colonized by British explorers in the 18th and 19th centuries and began to be administered by the Government of Jamaica since 1863. When Jamaica won its independence in 1962 the Cayman Islands were to be administered as the territory of the British Empire. 
HISTORY: the Cayman Islands were discovered by Cristóbal Colón 10 may 1503 during his fourth voyage to America. In 1586 Francis Drake landed on the Islands, being the first English which is record that visit them, and baptized them as Cayman Islands. The Islands, along with nearby Jamaica were occupied by England during the anglo-espanola war of 1655-1660; Spain officially recognized the English domination over them by the Treaty of Madrid in 1670. Together with Jamaica were governed as a single colony until 1962 when they became a British overseas territory while Jamaica got its independence (within the British Commonwealth of Nations). In 1788, ten boats returning to Britain from Jamaica were shipwrecked on the coast of the largest island and were welcomed by the natives. By this action, rey Jorge III of the United Kingdom exempted to the colony of the payment of taxes, situation that stays up to date. 
Geography:the Cayman Islands are located in the western part of the Caribbean Sea, about 240 kilometers south of Cuba and about 290 kilometers Northwest of Jamaica. The archipelago is mainly composed of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and little Cayman, Grand Cayman is the largest with an area of 197 km2. The two other islands, Cayman Brac and little Cayman, located 145 kilometers to the East of Grand Cayman, have an extension of 36 km² and 26 km² respectively. Not include landforms in the Islands, with the exception of the cliff "The Bluff" in Cayman Brac, which rises to more than 40 meters above the sea level, is the highest point of the island. 
ECONOMY: seen as a tax haven, the economy is one of the strongest in the Caribbean. Of the almost 40 thousand companies that are registered in the island 600 are banks, which manage 500 billion US dollars in assets. Tourism is also one of the main sources of income and is aimed at high-income, mainly in the area of North America travelers. The Cayman Islands is an associate member of the community of the Caribbean since 2002. The issuance of stamps for collection is also a source of income.
